In 2005, the Town of Dryden adopted its Comprehensive Plan. The plan, a product of community involvement and collaboration, sets forth a balanced vision for the town that both embraces future growth and development and safeguards the desirable qualities that make the Town of Dryden
a special place in which to live and do business. The town has now embarked on an effort to implement elements of the Comprehensive Plan in order to make the vision a reality. The project has finishing Phase I, the preparation of design guidelines for commercial and residential development in the town, and is nearing completion of Phase II, amending the town's zoning. All phases of this project involve implementing the Comprehensive Plan’s land use vision for the town, in a manner that:
- Incorporates the perspectives of town stakeholder and residents;
- Provides for flexibility, creativity and common sense approaches; and
- Fits the unique needs and conditions of the town.
To this end, the Town of Dryden
has entrusted its Planning Board with creating a process and product that builds on the hard work embodied by the Comprehensive Plan, while continuing to seek public input and involvement during this implementation phase. Project partners include Behan Planning and Design, a planning consulting firm, and the primary manager of the project; Town of Dryden staff, and most importantly of all, Town of Dryden residents, landowners, and other critical stakeholders.
The Town of Dryden is looking forward to implementing the Comprehensive Plan and to the “community conversation” that will inform and steer the course of this important project.
