Public Workshop #2
The second public workshop, hosted by the Town of LeRay Comprehensive Plan Committee, occurred on April 23, 2008 at the Evans Mills Fire Hall. Over 30 participants gathered to discuss several topics related to the future direction of LeRay. The meeting began with a summary of the previous public meeting, as well as work that had been completed by the committee since November. A proposed vision statement for LeRay was then presented, followed by a description of several character area concepts - developed based on activities or types of development occurring in these areas (see below). A conceptual series of images depicting a possible park and trail system interconnected through future residential and commercial development along the US Route 11 and NYS Route 342 corridor was also presented. Finally, possible implications of the future Fort Drum Connector exit at US Route 11, as well as encroachment concerns in the vicinity of Fort Drum were discussed.
Following the presentation the meeting participants split into breakout groups to answer the following questions:
- 1. What do you like about the ideas presented this evening? Why?
2. Which ideas do you think will make a positive contribution to the future of LeRay?
3. Any concerns about the ideas presented this evening?
4. Are there things we have forgotten?
A synthesis of the input received at the workshop can be found

Overall, the evening was informative and entertaining, with good food, several door prizes, and good conversation that will lead to a successful plan for LeRay.
