Westfield-Ripley Waterfront Opportunity Plan

The Town of Westfield, the Town of Ripley, and their joint Waterfront Committee, welcome you to the Westfield-Ripley Waterfront Opportunity Plan webpage! This page will be continually updated throughout the course of this project to provide important information such as the dates of public meetings, work products and project updates.

Project Synopsis

The area's scenic beauty, historic village and hamlet, an emerging winery industry, and outdoor recreational opportunities such as boating, fishing and biking, all combine to make it a special place to visit and in which to live.  Capitalizing on these resources in order to encourage growth and economic development, while at the same time retaining the special character of the lakeshore area, is key goal of this project.

To this end, the Town of Westfield and the Town of Ripley have jointly embarked on a planning process that has culminated in the Westfield-Ripley Waterfront Opportunity Plan. By working together, the towns can take a more comprehensive approach to their shared waterfront resources, while acknowledging and planning for the unique opportunities and resources within each.

A Waterfront Committee, consisting of a diverse array of community members and perspectives from Westfield and Ripley, was formed to see the project through from beginning to end. Project partners include Behan Planning Associates, LLC, a planning consulting firm, and the primary manager of the project; and Chautauqua County Planning, which, working closely with Behan Planning, have devoted significant resources, time and expertise to the project.
